Helping PlayStation® Schools’ Cup Kick Off In Style

We joined some of England’s best young footballing talent at this year’s 2015 PlayStation® Schools’ Cup Festival, which kicked off at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium this May.

PlayStation Schools’ Cup is a grassroots football partnership between PlayStation® and the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA), and works to bring the beautiful game to over 2,000 schools across England. Not only was the live event great but it was also streamed online for the first time, and you can catch up on all the action here.

The three-day football extravaganza marks the end of a seven-month long journey for these youngsters, who took part in a host of regional tournaments to battle their way to the national finals. This year, 15 finals matches were hosted from U12-U15 age groups, including boys’ and girls’ teams. Once again, we activated the festival and ten tie-of-the-round matches across the UK – ensuring these young athletes had an experience they will never forget.

Players and supporters were greeted by 15 Circle-trained brand ambassadors, with PlayStation® gaming pods on the concourse showcasing the latest gaming titles. Match activation included the ever-popular foam hands, bam bam sticks and t-shirt canons.

PlayStation® 4 consoles were up for grabs as prizes for activities including crossbar challenges and a newly-added social media element, the #SchoolsCupSelfie. Players and supporters submitted their entries via Twitter and Instagram with the best winning the coveted prize for each day of the tournament. This year we welcomed Aaron Ramsey and Andros Townsend who gave out medals, tried their luck on the latest PS4 games and signed autographs for the fans.
